在東南亞地區，有一種叫做麝香貓(Luwak)的野生雜食動物，長着尖尖的嘴巴以及深灰色的皮毛。這種貓最喜歡的食物就是新鮮的咖啡豆，當它們喫下咖啡豆並在體內將其發酵和消化後，最終會以糞便形式將咖啡豆排出來。</p>

這些糞便就是一粒粒的咖啡豆，也是世界上最昂貴的糞便。由於數量非常稀少，這種糞便咖啡豆的價格非常昂貴。</p>

<strong> 疑問二、貓屎咖啡何處來?</strong></p>
<p>
實際上，麝香貓在中南半島、印度(東北部)、孟加拉、不丹、錫金、尼泊爾和克什米爾地區都有所分佈，但能產出貓屎咖啡的，只有蘇門答臘麝香貓，即印尼麝香貓。</p>
<p>
據說，早期印尼的咖啡農民視專喫成熟咖啡果實的麝香貓爲死敵，但不知從何時起，有人想到在麝香貓的糞便中挑出咖啡豆來製作風味獨特的咖啡。自從有專家開始肯定這種咖啡的味道後，印尼咖啡農便對貓屎咖啡的製作產生了動力。</p>

印尼當地的一些咖啡農爲了追逐高額利潤，將野生的麝香貓捉回家中飼養，以便可以產出更多的貓屎咖啡。當然，養殖麝香貓產出的貓屎咖啡，成色和味道也會遜色很多。然而，即使是這樣，貓屎咖啡的產量仍然十分稀少，並不是所有喜歡咖啡的人都可以消費得起的。</p>

雖然貓屎咖啡是來自麝香貓的臭臭的便便，但喝一口只覺滿口甘香，還有一陣難以形容的甘甜。這是爲什麼呢?</p>

正常的咖啡製作流程是透過水洗或日曬處理法除去果皮、果肉和羊皮層，最後取出咖啡豆，然而，麝香貓卻是利用體內自然發酵法取出咖啡豆，因此，貓屎咖啡的風味十分獨特且濃稠香醇。</p>
<p>
貓屎咖啡極爲稀有，每年只出產五百磅，比藍山咖啡身價高出很多倍。一杯4安士的貓屎咖啡甚至可以賣到168美元(約人民幣1,400元)的價格!</p>
