咖啡在中國起步比較晚,早期只是高消費人羣或海歸人士纔有興致到咖啡館喝上一杯,而隨着時間的推移,國內咖啡市場已經發生了翻天覆地的變化。中國作爲世界咖啡市場的重要部分,備受外媒關注,下面我們就來看看外媒眼中的咖啡市場吧!
近期,外媒稱,咖啡正在擠進以茶文化爲主的中國市場,這裏的咖啡消費量很有可能從全球墊底變成全球領先。中國的咖啡飲用量在全球的佔比不足2%,但這個行業已經開始改變。
據英國廣播公司網站7月14日報道,2005年,理查德·錢(Richard Chien)在中國東北開了一家咖啡廳。那時候,一羣剛剛出徒的咖啡師每天大約能調製900杯咖啡,每杯的價格爲6元——換算過來還不到1美元。10年後,他在北京經營一家高級咖啡學校。在那裏,學員要花費好幾個小時瞭解咖啡豆的芳香和品鑑技巧,培訓過程中使用的咖啡每杯價格爲6美元(約合40元人民幣)。
中國的“經濟已經發生了變化,人們越來越理解不同的生活方式。”理查德·錢說,“他們眼中不再只有茶。”
根據美國農業部的數據,中國的咖啡消費量過去4年增長近兩倍,在其追蹤的所有大型市場中位居首位。中國市場的潛力也無比巨大:該國總人口多達14億。
星巴克對中國市場滿懷信心,因此準備明年在上海開張第一家國際烘烤和體驗中心。該公司相信,中國將成爲其最大的市場。這家總部位於西雅圖的咖啡連鎖企業已經在中國擁有2000多家門店,他們還計劃在未來5年每年新增500家店。另外一家美國咖啡連鎖企業唐恩都樂去年宣佈將在未來20年新增逾1400家門店,增幅接近100倍。
報道稱,咖啡銷量的增長證明中國正在向消費驅動型經濟轉型,這主要源自不斷擴大的中產階級消費意願的變化。越來越多的中國人前往國外旅遊,有的在日本品嚐濃縮咖啡,有的在美國的咖啡廳內完成學期論文。與父輩們不同的是,很多中國年輕一代都是在咖啡廳的包圍下長大的。
“它剛好位於隨意性家庭開支的甜蜜點上。”北京大學投資學教授高子程說,他曾與人合著了《一小時讀懂中國消費者:5個小故事瞭解10億消費者的殘酷鬥爭》一書。很多中國人看來,喝咖啡仍然像是一種嗜好,但這卻是一種並不遙遠的奢華生活方式。
在增速放緩的中國經濟中,其他商品的需求都在不斷降低,但咖啡卻似乎是個異類。該國龐大的人口基數和幾乎未經挖掘的市場都蘊含着前所未有的機遇。
根據市場研究公司歐瑞國際提供的數據,中國人平均每人每年飲用3杯咖啡,在全球排名幾乎墊底,僅高於蘇丹和朝鮮這樣的國家。相比而言,美國人平均每人每年飲用363杯咖啡,英國人也達到250杯。
中國市場研究集團董事總經理雷小山說,中國人對咖啡的渴望“徹底改變了全球供應鏈”。咖啡種植戶需要判斷如何爲其生產更多咖啡豆,以便迎合中國人的口味。“之前發生過這種情況,由於需求超過供給,導致咖啡豆價格飆升,直到種植戶提升產量才緩解了這一狀況。”
該公司估計中國的咖啡消費量將保持每年約20%的增長速度,而雷小山認爲,這一變化很大程度上歸功於30歲以下的女性。“他們不再購買路易·威登的包,而是把注意力轉向了體驗式消費。”他說,“咖啡文化便是其中的組成部分。”
報道稱,口味和成本都對中國新興的咖啡市場構成了威脅,尤其是在生活水平較高的城鎮地區之外。
“如果把中國的一家咖啡廳,尤其是高端咖啡廳,與加州和波士頓的咖啡廳進行對比,你會發現他們每天銷售的咖啡數量更少。”加州咖啡出口商Royal Coffee的貿易員彼得·雷多塞維奇說,“並沒有實現飛速增長。”
報道稱,想要讓咖啡真正在中國取得成功,就必須讓遊客較少的地區相信咖啡能夠補充甚至代替茶——對某些獨特的咖啡品種而言,尤其如此。
美國《華爾街日報》網站曾報道稱,隨着經濟發展放緩,中國的商品需求可能在放緩,但是在一個有着喝茶傳統的國家,咖啡——即使價格不菲——是一個罕見的亮點。分析人士說,受到變化的口味和中產階級迅速增加等因素推動,對其他一些包括進口新鮮水果在內的奢侈品的需求也在迅速增長。
據BMI研究公司的食品和飲料分析師拉菲耶·奧貝蒂說,相對於茶來說,咖啡代表着“一種西方生活方式,對於城市裏的上流社會和中產階級來說很有吸引力”,而茶被視爲一種更傳統的飲料。
臺灣中時電子報曾報道, 有咖啡專家說,若大陸每人每年喝20杯,全世界咖啡價格就會上漲3倍,可見大陸對全球咖啡影響力之巨大。
總的來說,在外媒眼中,雖然中國人均咖啡量還是較少,但中國咖啡市場還是很有潛力。
